Hachette Fascicoli la Collezione Mercury 1:48
From 1956-58 on, the die-cast brand Mercury Torino produced models of the Giulietta Sprint and Veloce in a different scale 1:48, compared to the more common 1:43 Dinky Toys and Corgi Toys. The Alfa 1900 Super berlina and Giulietta Ti berlina can also be found from Mercury; nostalgic zamac models without interior and without windows. Later versions did get windows, dashboard and interiors. Also afterwards the reproductions of Scottoys by Antonio Pezzini and Jonathan Scott appeared in many colours and Polizia versions.
Old die-cast models have been sought again, recognizable as cars, with which we used to play ourselves. Mint and box are scarcer and sometimes expensive. Various publishers have already responded to this trend towards first models. Hachette brought new life into early Solido models. Atlas Editions had Dinky Toys Giulia, Carabo and 1900 CSS reproduced again. At the 11th.march Funtoys borsa in Turino,
Hachette Fascicoli launched 'la collezione Mercury 1:48'.
The support website already contains 4 repros of Fiat 1100 taxi, Fiat 600 Multipla, Lancia D24 and the Giulietta Sprint.

The Hachette version has windows, no interior, 'loose' chromed bumpers, white headlamps and painted blinkers and taillights. This distinguishes it from the original first Mercury 1956-1958 with painted aluminium bumpers and silver coloured headlights. One might expect that the berlina 1900 and Giulietta Ti will also arrive in la Collezione. Unfortunately only in Italy you can subscribe to the edicola series. A bit later, certainly will be available on the internet or to be found on swapfairs. Finally, the discussion does continue whether the collector value of the originally Mercury or repro Scottoys will fall sharply ?
